In May of 2004, the 1954 American LaFrance celebrated its 50th birthday.  Major refurbishments were done to the truck.  The entire brake system was replaced by Bob "Lumpy" Bradford and his son Mike.  The Caterpillar 1160 diesel engine's injectors were also rebuilt.  New tires rounded out the repair work to this day.

The summer of '04 meant the company's participation in "Convention Season".  Teams competed in the Pumping Contest, Bucket Brigade, Softball, and Bowling Tournament for the Cambria County Convention.  The Pumping Contest team of Bob Bradford, Ed Link, Kevin Kerfonta, Mike Konitsky III, Kevin Malicky, John "Yunk" Pierce, Ed Kerfonta III took 1st Place at Cambria County Convention in Ebensburg and third Place in Central District Convention.  The Bucket Brigade Team 2 took 5th at Cambria, while the all Junior Member Team (except for Gary Talerico)  made a good effort at the convention as well.

Summer of '04 also brought the purchases of 2 SUV's to be used as a chief's responder and a personnel carrier.  A Ford Explorer was converted to the Chief's Responder and a Jeep Cherokee was turned into Squad 58-4. All new ladders are purchased for the '79 American LaFrance as well.
